ZuckOff App Lets Phones Detect Nearby Camera Glasses

Overview

• ZuckOff, released by Polish developer Paweł Szydłowski in mid-September, listens to Bluetooth advertisements and flags devices that match known camera-glass signatures.
• The app currently identifies products such as Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, and Snap Spectacles by showing manufacturer IDs, advertised services, signal strength, and other raw evidence for each flag.
• Built from captures of real hardware, ZuckOff logs every Bluetooth device it hears, supports background monitoring, Home Screen widgets, CSV export, owner marking to silence alerts, and a paid Pro tier.
• ZuckOff cannot tell if a detected pair is actively recording or who is wearing it because Bluetooth signal strength gives only rough distance and no direction and some models do not broadcast when worn.
• The developer is soliciting short scans and device loans to expand detection rules, and the app’s visibility could push further vendor fixes such as Meta’s firmware checks for tampered recording LEDs and influence venue policies.
