Zelensky Visits Oleksandrivka Front, Backs Drone Logistics as Attacks Persist

The trip signaled a turn toward unmanned systems to reduce risk to soldiers.

Overview

  • Zelensky, joined by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited the 31st and 67th brigades’ command posts in the Oleksandrivka sector on Friday and later met units of the 20th Army Corps in the Dnipro region.
  • Syrskyi told the president that Russian assault operations in the sector had not eased despite a declared ceasefire.
  • The 31st Brigade showed a low-cost drone logistics network that now carries about 60% of its supplies, with plans to grow unmanned ground vehicles that can take on hazardous tasks.
  • At the 67th Brigade, Zelensky reviewed needs that include armored vehicles and artillery rounds, which he said would be worked through with the military command.
  • Commanders discussed scaling mid-range strike drones, increasing ground robots, and securing more flexible, battalion-level funding, and Zelensky also explored how to recruit, train, and integrate foreign fighters.
