YPF Takes Full Control of Refinor to Anchor Fuel Logistics in Argentina’s North

YPF says full ownership will secure a key pipeline to safeguard fuel supply in the NOA.

Overview

  • The company bought Hidrocarburos del Norte’s 50% stake for US$25.2 million, according to its Oct. 28 filing to the CNV.
  • The acquisition hands YPF sole ownership of the Campo Durán complex, a roughly 1,100 km poliducto to Montecristo, and a network of more than 70 service stations across seven provinces.
  • YPF says the move ensures operation of the Montecristo–Banda del Río Salí pipeline and improves regional fuel logistics.
  • Fuel retailers in Salta voiced cautious approval citing greater predictability, while the regional oil and gas union remains on alert over jobs and activity at Campo Durán.
  • Refinor’s June 30 balance sheet showed a US$84.8 million book value and about US$108 million in liabilities, and the complex has faced output declines and plant closures this year.
