Overview
- Ilkley is hosting a free Yorkshire Day Celebration Weekend on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd with more than 20 hours of live music, a makers market and all three of the town’s breweries serving on Saturday.
- Kirklees Council will stage a free, family-friendly celebration at Oakwell Hall on Sunday, August 2nd that features live acts, workshops, a Yorkshire makers market and explicit sustainability measures such as off-site recycling and expanded bike parking.
- Skipton and Keighley are focal sites for Saturday events that include bushcraft workshops, Morris dancers, flat-cap brass bands, street food and free family attractions while coastal towns host parallel fixtures from July 31 to August 2.
- The weekend programme combines volunteer-led organisation and council funding, with groups such as Olicana Events CIC and Ilkley Live organising entertainment and sponsors and town grants underwriting free activities to drive local spending.
- Yorkshire Day traces back to the 1970s and links to wider county traditions and the 1834 emancipation milestone, and this year’s events build on the Bradford 2025 legacy while testing whether greener, free festivals can increase visitor numbers and benefit small businesses.
