Yogi Sets January Deadline for Agra’s Shivaji Museum, Orders Faster Build of Lucknow Navy Shaurya Museum

Both projects are being refashioned as interactive experience centres using immersive technology to boost heritage tourism.

Overview

  • Chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed that the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Agra be finished by January 2026 to enable an on-time inauguration.
  • He instructed weekly progress reviews and told agencies to prioritise quality as they shift both sites from static displays to digital, participatory experiences.
  • The Agra museum will feature a 7D ‘Shivaji and the Great Escape’ recreation, a ‘Pioneers’ gallery on 1857 freedom fighters, galleries on festivals and rivers, an ‘Agra Gallery’, and an orientation section.
  • Plans for the Navy Shaurya Museum include preserving INS Gomati, installing a TU-142 aircraft and a proposed Sea King helicopter, plus a 7D theatre, carrier landing and warship simulators, a digital water-screen show, and a marine aquarium.
  • Officials said the Lucknow project, launched in 2022 and designed in the abstract form of a ship, has about 30% physical progress and is expected to need at least another year despite orders to accelerate work.
