Overview
- Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Aam Mahotsav in Lucknow on Friday, July 3, visited exhibition stalls, released the festival souvenir and honoured 13 outstanding mango growers.
- Organisers are holding a first-ever Mango Buyer-Seller Conference on July 4 to give orchardists direct access to domestic and overseas buyers and to fast-track commercial deals.
- The festival showcases more than 800 mango varieties across seven categories and 56 classes, and the state unveiled branding moves such as the Kakori label for Malihabad Dussehri and plans to seek more GI tags.
- Uttar Pradesh stressed export and quality upgrades, noting modern pack houses are operational in Saharanpur, Lucknow, Amroha and Varanasi, a testing and treatment park is planned near Jewar, and APEDA-linked exports rose from 404 tonnes to 3,563 tonnes year-on-year.
- Launched in 2017, the Aam Mahotsav now pairs public events and technical workshops with targeted supports—1.5 crore fruit bags distributed and a 40% canopy subsidy—to turn UP’s roughly one-quarter share of India’s mango output into higher farm incomes and global market sales.
