YG Maps Summer Releases and September Debut for New Five-Member Boy Group

The plan signals a tighter rollout from the K-pop label.

Overview

  • In an agency video, founder Yang Hyun-suk outlined near-term plans for BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, a new boy group, and the NEXT MONSTER project.
  • BABYMONSTER’s mini album Choom arrives May 4, with a separate digital single in early June and music videos for two B-sides slated for July and early August.
  • TREASURE returns with a mini album on June 1, and Yang apologized to the group for hardships at debut as reports noted his prior conviction for threatening a whistle-blower in the B.I case.
  • YG said the new boy band will have five members and is planned to launch in September to set it apart from 10-member TREASURE.
  • The video also introduced Kayci as the third revealed trainee for the NEXT MONSTER girl group, a 13-year-old who has trained for a year and a half.
