Yamaha Enters India’s Electric Scooter Market With EC-06 at Rs 1.67 Lakh

Co-developed with River on the Indie platform, the scooter begins a phased rollout through Yamaha's Blue Square showrooms.

  • Priced at Rs 1.67 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, the EC-06 is launching first in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, with initial availability in Pune, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.
  • The scooter was co-developed with Bengaluru startup River, shares its platform with the River Indie, and is manufactured at River’s Hoskote facility.
  • A 4 kWh battery and 6.7 kW motor (26 Nm) deliver a 79 km/h top speed and an IDC-certified 169 km range, with a home charge taking about eight hours and no fast-charging option.
  • Features include a colour LCD with Yamaha Motor Connect R app support, three riding modes and reverse assist, plus 200 mm discs with CBS but no ABS.
  • The EC-06 offers 24.5 litres of under-seat storage and a 3-year/30,000 km battery warranty, sits above the River Indie on price by about Rs 22,000, and trails Ather’s Rizta Z on infotainment and total storage.
