Yamaha Begins EC-06 E‑Scooter Production at River’s Hoskote Plant

River will manufacture the Indie-based model in Karnataka for distribution via Yamaha’s dealer network.

Overview

  • Production has started at River Mobility’s Hoskote facility, marking Yamaha’s first electric two-wheeler for the Indian market.
  • Built on the River Indie platform, the EC-06 uses a 4 kWh fixed battery with a motor rated around 6.7 kW and a claimed 90 km/h top speed.
  • Positioned for short urban commutes, the scooter offers a colour LCD, three riding modes and a reverse assist function.
  • Underseat storage is 24.5 litres, significantly smaller than the Indie’s 43-litre boot due to different packaging priorities.
  • Yamaha cites up to 160 km certified range and about nine hours for a full charge, while launch timing and pricing are unannounced with reports expecting a figure near the Indie’s Rs 1.46 lakh.
