XRP Ledger Tops 1 Million AI Payments as XRPL AI Hub Goes Live
The milestone shows growing machine-to-machine settlement on XRPL with a validator software upgrade moving closer to activation.
Overview
- The XRP Ledger Foundation announced on Wednesday that the network has processed more than 1,000,000 agent-driven payments using the x402 HTTP pattern for automated machine payments.
- Ripple-backed t54.ai launched the XRPL AI Hub on July 8 as a single discovery point that indexes live x402 activity, offers developer docs and SDKs, and lists AI agents, merchants and services.
- Over 55% of trusted XRPL validators have installed xrpld v3.2.0, advancing the ledger toward a formal amendment; protocol rules require more than 80% approval for two weeks before activation can occur.
- The rollout builds on Ripple’s recent XRPL AI Starter Kit, which added x402 support and RLUSD/XRP tooling so agents can pay on-chain and use the ledger’s built-in DEX for swaps, and about 121 merchants are now listed on the hub including Heurist Mesh, LucyOS, and AskSurf.
- Despite the operational milestones, XRP trading activity has been muted with price near $1.06 and falling on-chain metrics, and observers note real-world risks for x402 integrations such as authorization gaps, replay attacks, and validation proof failures that could slow broader adoption.
