Overview
- Xpeng has lodged MIIT filings for three SUVs—the Mona L03 and L05 and the G9L—each offered as a pure battery-electric model or as an extended-range version that uses a small gasoline engine to generate electricity rather than drive the wheels.
- The Mona L03 targets the mass market with a 183 kW motor from Luxshare, LFP battery choices up to about 69 kWh, and a CLTC range claim of up to 650 km, with Chinese media reporting an expected starting price near 150,000 yuan.
- The larger Mona L05 shares the L03’s BEV and EREV setups with CALB-supplied LFP packs, while the full-size G9L adds single- or dual-motor BEV layouts and an EREV using a 1.5-litre 110 kW generator from Harbin Dongan.
- Filings and reporting name Eve Energy and CALB as battery suppliers and indicate all three SUVs are slated to arrive before the end of 2026, extending Xpeng’s dual-powertrain strategy that builds on Mona M03’s 2025 sales of more than 175,000 units.
- In Australia, Xpeng is shifting to direct, factory-backed operations as a court fight with distributor TrueEV continues, with Xpeng ANZ preparing dealer and service networks and promising near-term updates on the new G6 and X9 as customers await clarity on support and future models.
