Overview
- Nintendo will release the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition digitally on July 30, 2026 and as a physical disc on October 1, 2026, with a paid upgrade pre-order available now for $9.99 / £7.99.
- A Version 3.0.0 patch released in late July makes the existing game compatible with the Switch 2 Edition while leaving the original Switch build unchanged.
- The Switch 2 Edition raises technical limits to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second in TV (docked) mode and 1080p in handheld mode, and it smooths and sharpens in-game cutscenes.
- New gameplay and rewards include Merc Assault, a mode that lets players directly control Blades and send up to six on missions, plus a new rare Blade named Momo who swaps between light and dark forms and arrives with a new quest.
- This release is part of Nintendo and Monolith Soft's coordinated Switch 2 reissue plan for the Xenoblade trilogy and is likely to push fans to replay the game for its new modes and Pyra/Mythra outfits that can be earned and toggled in-game.
