Xbox Removes Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 From July Game Pass Slate

An Editor’s Note on Xbox Wire gave no reason for the change and has raised questions about expiring music or partner licences that can block older games.

Overview

  • Xbox updated its Xbox Wire blog on Wednesday to remove Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 from the list of titles slated for Game Pass and added an Editor’s Note that gave no public explanation.
  • The game had been scheduled to arrive on Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass on July 21 before the listing was changed.
  • Microsoft owns Activision and the Tony Hawk IP following the 2023 acquisition, but ownership has not guaranteed availability in the past and the sequel 3+4 arrived on Game Pass day one in July 2025.
  • Coverage and fan reaction point to licensing as a likely cause, noting the remake includes more than 50 songs with many legacy tracks that could face expired music or sponsor agreements.
  • Microsoft has not said what will happen next, leaving players uncertain about access and prompting questions about how Xbox will handle older, licensed content and future Game Pass additions.
