Xbox Opens Preorders for Translucent Series X25 Limited Edition

Microsoft aims to position the release as a premium collector offering through numbered consoles, timed preorders, partner-made accessories, plus a bundled Halo download.

Overview

  • Microsoft opened early-invite preorders on Aug. 26 and general preorders on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 a.m. PDT for the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, which has an MSRP of $899.99, is limited to one unit per customer, and ships on Nov. 13 with a download of Halo: Campaign Evolved.
  • The matching X25 Special Edition wireless controller is sold separately, launched for preorder at the same time and will ship earlier on Oct. 20 with its own price point.
  • The 25th Anniversary Collection relies on third-party licensed gear from Razer, 8BitDo, Backbone, GameSir and PowerA, most items are reskinned versions of existing products and will ship in October and November.
  • Backbone will sell its Pro controller in blind-box colorways and several retailer listings already show limited stock or rapid sell-through, underscoring Xbox’s use of numbered units, preorder invites and one-per-customer limits to create scarcity.
  • The $100 premium over the standard Series X reflects a collector-focused strategy that leans on nostalgia and partner hardware to reach PC and mobile players, and the limited run is likely to push demand and quick sellouts among dedicated fans.
