Overview
- Xbox launched its Xbox Backward Compatibility on PC on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, with an early-release preview that makes original Xbox games playable on Windows and supported handhelds.
- The first four launch titles are BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy, all available to buy on PC and included in every Xbox Game Pass tier.
- Digital console licenses carry over to PC through Xbox Play Anywhere and the games also support Xbox Cloud Gaming and play on devices such as the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X.
- Microsoft added explicit PC features: up to 4x resolution upscaling, VSync, anisotropic filtering, enhanced anti-aliasing, fullscreen and windowed modes, customizable language/audio, and published minimum and recommended Windows 11 system requirements.
- Xbox says Achievements for select original Xbox games will arrive later this year, but independent testing has flagged frame-timing problems and visual bugs in the preview builds and a reported disc-to-digital converter for physical collections is not yet available.
