WTA Finals Moved From Riyadh to Indian Wells for 2026

A mutual termination of the Saudi hosting deal sends the Nov. 8–15 finals to Indian Wells as the WTA searches for a long-term home from 2027.

Overview

  • The WTA and the Saudi Tennis Federation announced Wednesday that they had mutually agreed to end their three-year Riyadh hosting agreement and relocate the 2026 WTA Finals to Indian Wells.
  • Indian Wells Tennis Garden will host the season-ending event for the top eight singles players and doubles teams from Nov. 8–15 and the WTA said the venue offers proven facilities and a strong fan base.
  • Prize-money figures for the 2026 Finals have not been released and last year’s winner, Elena Rybakina, earned roughly $5.235 million under the Riyadh arrangement.
  • The early end to the Saudi deal follows public criticism from human-rights advocates who accused state-backed investment of being used to 'sportswash' rights concerns, while the Saudi Tennis Federation highlighted community programs that reached more than 30,000 people and higher attendance.
  • The WTA is treating Indian Wells as a one-year interim host while it actively talks to potential partners for a long-term site from 2027 onward, a decision that aims to preserve operational continuity and fan access.
