WSR Signs Lewis Gilbert and Expands to Three BMWs for 2026 BTCC

Overview

• WSR announced on Monday that 22-year-old Lewis Gilbert will join its expanded three-car BMW 330i M Sport line-up for the remainder of the 2026 BTCC season and is set to debut at Thruxton on 25–26 July.
• Gilbert is a decorated karter from Dalry, North Ayrshire who won the 2018 Euro Series X30 Junior and Kartmasters Rotax Junior titles and has raced in GB3 this year, recording multiple top-ten finishes.
• He will test a WSR BMW at Snetterton later this week before racing at Thruxton and then at his home round at Knockhill, a quick sequence that presents a steep learning curve on two very different tracks.
• Entered as a Rookie, Gilbert will be eligible for the Jack Sears Trophy and will also contest the overall and Independent championship classifications.
• WSR says the move continues its long record of promoting young drivers but the team has not clarified whether Gilbert’s seat affects plans for 2024 champion Jake Hill to return for Thruxton and Knockhill.
