WSOP Accepts Solana Payments for Tournament Buy-Ins

MoonPay will process zero-fee on-chain buy-ins, with optional stablecoin prize payouts planned for WSOP Paradise in December.

Overview

  • On June 10, the World Series of Poker named the Solana Foundation its presenting sponsor for the 2026 summer series and launched SOL buy-ins at the Las Vegas events processed by MoonPay at no fees.
  • Players who choose the Solana option will pay tournament entry on-chain so they remit the exact buy-in amount without credit-card surcharges or extra processing fees.
  • WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas, scheduled for December 2026, will let winners elect to receive prize money as Solana-based stablecoins to speed settlement and reduce foreign-exchange and wire delays for international players.
  • The partnership includes co-developed on-chain products, Solana branding on broadcasts and table felt, and livestream integration that positions the deal as both a sponsorship and a technical use case for the network.
  • Regulatory and operational risks remain because Nevada regulators have been cautious about crypto and past crypto-sports failures like FTX have left reputational concerns, so scrutiny of execution and compliance will shape whether this model spreads to other events.
