Wrong-Way Pickup Crash in Marble Falls Kills 5, Including Two Children

Police have opened an investigation into why the pickup entered oncoming lanes.

  • Police say the three-vehicle collision on U.S. 281 in Marble Falls, reported around 4:59 p.m. Sunday, left five people dead.
  • Investigators determined an 80-year-old driver, Antonio Lara, crossed into southbound lanes in a black Nissan pickup and struck a BMW before a head-on crash with a silver Hyundai.
  • All four people in the Hyundai and Lara died at the scene, and police identified the adults as Ron Dykes, 55, and Roxanne Mowrey, 50, along with a 5-year-old girl and a 3-year-old girl.
  • The BMW carried a 29-year-old man, a 27-year-old woman, and their 8-month-old son, and police reported no serious injuries in that vehicle.
  • Marble Falls officers and Burnet County deputies responded, the cause of the wrong-way driving remains unknown, and police thanked bystanders who stopped to help.
