Overview
- Troopers received calls around 1:15 a.m. about a vehicle traveling north in the southbound SR 143 lanes near Broadway Road.
- Shortly afterward, a head-on collision was reported on the westbound US 60 collector-distributor lanes from SR 143 paralleling Interstate 10.
- One person died at the scene and another was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to authorities.
- The collector-distributor lanes remain closed for evidence collection and wreckage removal, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.
- The crash follows a separate Phoenix-area wrong-way fatal collision on Jan. 30 that remains under investigation.
