Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 23 Near Ann Arbor

Overview

• Rescue crews were dispatched at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, to northbound U.S. 23 at Territorial Road in Northfield Township.
• A preliminary investigation found a 1993 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 58-year-old Brighton man was traveling south in the northbound lanes.
• The Jeep collided head-on with an oncoming 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup, according to Michigan State Police.
• The Brighton driver was taken to University of Michigan Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
• The pickup’s driver, a 26-year-old Montrose man, was treated at a hospital for minor injuries as the case remains under review.
