Overview
- Election Commission post‑poll figures released Friday show women voted at higher rates than men in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry.
- West Bengal posted the highest turnout at 93.71% across 293 seats where counting is complete, with the Falta constituency set for a repoll.
- Turnout was also high elsewhere, reaching 85.01% in Tamil Nadu, 85.74% in Assam, 78.11% in Kerala and 89.82% in Puducherry.
- Despite that surge at the booths, women won a modest share of seats, including 23 in Tamil Nadu, 37 in West Bengal and 11 in Kerala.
- Protest votes stayed low through the None of the Above option, ranging from 0.4% in Tamil Nadu to 1.23% in Assam, and only two third‑gender candidates contested and both lost their deposits.
