Woman Who Broke Ankle Monitor After Giving Birth Is Captured in Guaymallén

The arrest renews scrutiny of pregnancy-based house arrest with electronic tracking.

Overview

  • Investigators from the Guaymallén Investigative Unit arrested 24-year-old Luciana Ayelén Mañaz Saldaña inside Finca Badano in the El Bermejo district after weeks on the run.
  • Police say she had been on home detention for an aggravated taxi robbery conviction when, in February, she broke the electronic ankle monitor and left with her newborn.
  • After the arrest, officers took her first to Comisaría 9° and then to a temporary detention center, where she remains under Tribunal Penal Colegiado Nº 1 led by Judge Diego Lusverti.
  • Relatives are caring for the baby while the court determines the mother’s procedural status and custody conditions.
  • Records detail prior police cases since 2023 and a June 2025 holdup near Hospital Notti, and the court granted house arrest so she could care for her newborn.
