Woman Dies and Driver Airlifted After Mini Cooper Hits Tree on A20

Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is seeking witnesses along with dashcam footage to establish how the crash happened

  • A yellow Mini Cooper struck a tree on the A20 at Barrow Hill, Sellindge at about 8.40pm on Sunday 5 July, leaving a 46-year-old female passenger dead at the scene and the 44-year-old female driver with life-threatening injuries.
  • Emergency crews attended the scene and the driver was airlifted to a London hospital where she remains in a life-threatening condition.
  • Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit have opened an inquiry and are asking anyone who saw the collision or the moments before it to come forward.
  • Police have given a reference number HW/AL/052/26 and asked witnesses to call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.police.uk and to upload dashcam footage via the force’s portal.
