Overview
- Deputies received a 911 call around 4:24 a.m. Wednesday for a structure fire along State Highway 34 in Osage, about 30 miles east of Detroit Lakes.
- A resident flagged down a passing motorist to report that a woman might still be inside the burning home.
- Firefighters later found the woman deceased inside, and a man from the residence was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids for smoke inhalation and possible burns.
- Carsonville Fire Rescue, the Park Rapids Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance and the Becker County Sheriff’s Office responded to the emergency.
- The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the origin and cause, and officials have withheld victim identities pending autopsy results.
