- Tokyo police arrested 32-year-old Mayu Yoshida on Tuesday on suspicion of fraudulently obstructing the business of manga publisher Shueisha after a probe into repeated order cancellations.
- Authorities say Yoshida placed more than 2,000 orders on Shueisha’s Jump Characters Store between July 2024 and May 2025 using roughly 230–238 accounts and repeatedly chose cash-on-delivery before refusing or cancelling deliveries.
- Shueisha estimates the total retail value of the cancelled items at about 4.3 billion yen, while the publisher’s documented direct costs so far are reported at roughly 7.5 million yen for shipping and handling.
