Overview
- The airline confirmed it will open a permanent base at Santiago de Compostela Airport on 17 December 2026 and station an aircraft there to operate winter services.
- From that base Wizz Air will start five new domestic routes on 17–18 December connecting Santiago with Málaga, Tenerife Norte, Zaragoza, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.
- Wizz Air already plans an earlier rollout of additional Santiago services in November and December that include Valencia and Bilbao from 2 November, Madrid from 3 November, Warsaw from 1 December and Rome from 14 December.
- The carrier will also add three international links in mid-to-late December: Valencia–Chișinău three times weekly and Barcelona–Brașov and Madrid–Brașov twice weekly.
- Local officials said the move supports efforts to reduce seasonality at the Rosalía de Castro airport and local leaders and Wizz Air expect the network to strengthen regional connectivity and help winter tourism and local economies.
