Overview

  • Windrose delivered its first U.S. long-haul tractor to Texas logistics firm Allogic through distributor Xos Trucks in its initial push into the American market.
  • The R700-based truck carries a 729 kWh, 800-volt battery rated for roughly 400 to 450 miles per charge and can use MCS, a high-power truck charging plug.
  • The listed $285,000 price already includes the 100% U.S. duty on Chinese heavy trucks, and CEO Han Wen says the company can still operate at a profit.
  • Production remains in Hubei, China for now, with European plants in development after the company largely shelved earlier plans for U.S. assembly.
  • Tesla looms as the main rival thanks to its growing Semi fleet and Megacharger network, while Windrose faces a thinner service footprint and sparse MCS sites that may weigh on fleet decisions.
