Overview
- The Shared Audio capability, delivered in the optional KB5089573 update released in late May 2026, lets two paired Bluetooth LE Audio devices receive the same system audio from a single Windows 11 PC.
- Microsoft is enabling the feature gradually so installing the update may not immediately show the Shared Audio toggle in Quick Settings on every eligible machine.
- Shared Audio relies on Bluetooth LE Audio broadcast support on both the PC and each headset and users can check for native LE support under Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
- In early tests Windows 11 offers per‑headset volume controls while otherwise sharing system volume by default, and the update also includes a Low Latency Profile to reduce audio lag.
- The change brings Windows closer to parity with iPhone and Mac audio sharing, improves options for travel and media watching, and may require newer Bluetooth adapters for older PCs to work.
