Overview
- Organisers announced Tuesday that the Zagreb curatorial collective What, How & for Whom (Ivet Ćurlin, Nataša Ilić and Sabina Sabolović) will direct the 2027 edition of Skulptur Projekte Münster.
- The first five artists named are Hew Locke, Oscar Murillo, Iza Tarasewicz, Selma Selman and Róza El-Hassan, each commissioned for projects tied to specific local sites.
- Murillo will stage communal cooking and collective sharing at a former military barracks now hosting refugees, Tarasewicz will work with seasonal agricultural cycles at Gut Kinderhaus, Locke will present a colonial-history installation at the Krameramtshaus, Selman will respond to a nineteenth-century cemetery, and El-Hassan will divide her work between the Botanical Garden and the Berg Fidel neighborhood.
- The LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur is organising the show, which will run from mid-June to early October 2027 and will be followed by further artist announcements and a pre-programme of university and community sessions.
- The 2027 edition is the first women-led Skulptur Projekte and the first after founder Kasper König’s death, and organisers say the programme aims to extend public art beyond the centre to engage neighbourhoods in transition and local communities in shared practices and debate.
