- President Trump signed a Jan. 30 executive order launching the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C., scheduled for Aug. 21–23.
- INDYCAR will run the event in coordination with a federal task force including the Transportation and Interior departments and the D.C. mayor’s office.
- Interior Secretary Dick Burgum and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy are directed to choose a suitable National Mall route by Feb. 15.
- The order instructs Transportation to expedite permits and ensure roads, trails and bridges on the course can safely accommodate the race.
- Organizers say the event will be free to the public and televised on FOX Sports, while legal limits on advertising near the Capitol and broader security and logistics plans still need resolution.
