Overview
- WhatsApp is rolling out the new “After reading” option to select beta users on iOS TestFlight 26.19.10.72 and Android 2.26.19.11.
- WhatsApp says access will expand to more testers over the coming weeks as the company continues staged rollout.
- The feature deletes a message 5 minutes, 1 hour, or 12 hours after the recipient opens the chat.
- If the recipient never opens the conversation, the message disappears after 24 hours by default.
- The control is optional, can be set per chat or globally, and offers more privacy with the caveat that very short windows can still lead to missed messages.
