WhatsApp Lands on Select Garmin Watches as a Native App

The watch experience works only when a paired phone is in Bluetooth range.

Overview

  • Garmin released the WhatsApp app in the Connect IQ Store, installable via the Garmin Connect/Connect IQ companion on iPhone or Android.
  • Compatibility covers recent models such as Enduro 3, fēnix 8 and 8 Pro, fēnix E, Forerunner 570 and 970, Venu 4, Venu X1, vívoactive 6, quatix 8, tactix 8 and D2 Air X15.
  • Users can read chats and reply from the wrist using the on-screen keyboard or emojis, with up to ten messages shown per conversation.
  • Media is not supported on the watch, WhatsApp calls cannot be placed, and incoming calls can only be declined.
  • Some reporting indicates the feature currently works only with private accounts, and Garmin is also adding a Pokémon Sleep tie-in as it expands third‑party integrations.
