Overview
- Weymouth officials, who found a small white terrier Sunday near the Middle Street gazebo, reported no signs of trauma and said the death is not suspicious.
- A day later, a black-and-white pit bull mix was recovered along the shoreline near Lakeshore Drive wrapped in a plastic bag, which police called suspicious.
- Neither dog had a collar, tags, or a microchip, though the terrier wore a Seresto flea-and-tick collar that offers no owner ID.
- Police and animal control asked anyone with information to contact Animal Control Officer Darren King at 781-660-3707 or dking@weymouth.ma.us, and they said anonymous tips are welcome.
- Officials said the two discoveries appear to be unrelated, and neighbors voiced alarm as the investigation continues around the Whitmans Pond shoreline.
