Westmorland and Furness Schedules Short Utility-Work Road Closures Starting Jan. 29

Most restrictions are set for one to three days, with closures only active when signs are displayed.

Overview

  • Colthouse Lane near Ulverston closes from January 29 over about 100 metres from Urswick Road, with no vehicle diversion and access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists only.
  • Ghyll Head Road near the A592 shuts from January 30 for roughly 125 metres, with a signed vehicle diversion and an expected one day of disruption.
  • Further closures are scheduled at Rectory Lane in Torver from February 9, CS020 at Skelwith Bridge from February 18, the C5019 at Coniston from February 24, and the C5049 at Newby Bridge from March 3.
  • Each of the February and March closures is anticipated to last around three days with signed diversion routes provided where available.
  • Orders permit restrictions for up to 18 months if required, though the council says they will only be enforced when necessary and when traffic signs are in place; enquiries can be directed to the Highways Hotline with TTROW references.
