Overview
- Two UP and two DOWN slow 12-car non-AC services begin on Feb. 1, including Bhayandar–Bandra at 11:39, Bhayandar–Churchgate at 12:14, and Bandra–Bhayandar at 04:30 and 13:21.
- The daily suburban total rises from 1,406 to 1,410 services, with reports estimating an added carrying capacity of roughly 30,000–40,000 passengers on the Churchgate–Virar corridor.
- A five-hour block runs on Feb. 1 from 10:35 to 15:35 between Churchgate and Mumbai Central, diverting fast-line trains to slow lines and prompting select cancellations and short-terminations.
- WR says the additions were enabled by completing the Kandivali–Borivali sixth line and shifting Bandra Terminus long-distance trains to the 5th and 6th lines to improve operational efficiency.
- Safety has been bolstered with Kavach commissioned on the Virar–Vadodara section on Jan. 30, with the Dadar–Bhuj Sayaji Nagri Express identified as the first Mumbai departure under the system.
