Overview
- Voters in West Oxfordshire must show approved photo ID at polling stations for the local elections on Thursday 7 May.
- Residents without accepted ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate through the national website, a council paper form, or the local helpline.
- Accepted IDs include passports, photocard driving licences, Blue Badges and concessionary travel passes, and expired documents count if the photo still looks like you.
- If a voter’s ID is not accepted, staff will record the refusal and the person can return later the same day with valid ID to receive a ballot.
- Polling staff use coded entries on electoral lists to see who is eligible to vote in person, including markers for postal voters, overseas electors and under‑18s.
