Overview
- Police responded to a call about a woman screaming at an apartment complex and forced entry to the unit during a welfare check on Thursday night.
- Body-camera video shown by police captured a man holding a large kitchen knife to the woman’s neck and telling officers not to enter before one officer fired a single shot.
- Officers and first responders performed CPR but the man, identified by police as 39-year-old Lorenzo Miller, died at the scene and a large kitchen knife was recovered.
- No officers were injured and the woman was taken to UC Hospital West Chester and has since been released from care.
- The West Chester Police turned the investigation over to state-level investigators, troopers and the coroner assisted at the scene, and four officers remain on paid administrative leave as the probe continues.
