West Bengal Sets All-Time Election Turnout Record at 93.71%

The release comes during a Supreme Court review of large voter roll deletions.

Election Commission data, released Saturday, confirms West Bengal’s turnout at 93.71 percent, the highest in any Assembly or Lok Sabha election since Independence.
The figure edges past Tripura’s 2013 mark of 93.61 percent, placing Bengal at the top of the all‑time state list.
The Commission ran a Special Intensive Revision to clean voter rolls by removing duplicates and ineligible entries, and Bengal’s list shrank by over 90 lakh with 27.16 lakh names deleted after a Supreme Court‑ordered review.
Those removed could not vote in April’s polls and many have appealed their deletions, with the Supreme Court having reserved its judgment on the wider challenge.
Despite the pruning, EC figures show more registered voters than in 2021 in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, and strong turnouts in Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur and Puducherry.
