Overview
- The cell has been constituted with immediate effect at the Police Directorate in Bhawani Bhavan, Kolkata, under the administrative control of DGP Rajeev Kumar.
- An Additional Director General will lead the unit, with IG/DIG/SP-ranked officers on the team and two technical experts providing specialized support, with scope to co-opt more experts.
- Its remit covers policy and strategy, identifying use cases and piloting projects, capacity building through training, collaboration with academia and industry, and data governance.
- Meetings will be held at least once every two weeks to review progress and approve initiatives, with a consolidated report on activities due every six months.
