Overview
- Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari made a surprise visit to Swasthya Bhawan on July 9 to review a newly established central control room that is already streaming live feeds from 15–16 state hospitals.
- The health department has ordered the monitoring system to be extended to all subdivision hospitals by July 30 so officials can spot and remove touts and track hospital operations in real time.
- Adhikari directed capacity upgrades at SSKM Hospital, including about 250 added beds before Durga Puja and a raise in ICU capacity from roughly 112 to about 200 beds, plus stronger burn and trauma units.
- The government says it has signed an agreement with the Adani Group for a 2,000-bed hospital in New Town with 1,000 beds reserved for poor patients, and it says private hospitals on government land will set aside about 10% of beds for the poor.
- Officials announced operational steps such as colour-coded ID badges, larger patient food allocations, accommodation for relatives and full cooperation with police, while also ordering an enquiry after a reported expired-saline case and stressing that patient privacy safeguards will be maintained.
