West Bengal Issues 11–12 Page Annapurna Form as Rs 3,000 Payments Are Set to Start

Tighter eligibility checks aim to stop ineligible payments to men or non‑citizens.

Overview

  • The state released an 11–12 page application for the Annapurna Yojana and says the first direct transfers of Rs 3,000 to eligible women will begin on June 3.
  • The form requires detailed household data including names and Aadhaar numbers for all adults, land and vehicle ownership, PAN and income details, bank account IFSCs and records such as RoR.
  • Officials say benefits will be paid only into Aadhaar‑linked individual bank accounts and that joint accounts will not be accepted to reduce fraud.
  • To reduce barriers the government has rolled out physical forms, plans an online portal and has ordered door‑to‑door teams plus help desks to assist women with form filling.
  • Opposition parties and some beneficiaries say the form is too long and could exclude poorly documented women even as ministers say they will consider simplifying the application based on feedback and past database checks that found ineligible entries.
