Wesley Norton Charged After Thornton Officers Dragged, One Seriously Hurt

• Police say the 27-year-old fled a Feb. 3 contact at a gas station near W. 88th Avenue and Huron Street in an unplated vehicle.
• Officers report he provided false identification, ignored commands, and drove off, dragging two officers several yards.
• One officer sustained significant injuries and is believed to have been run over and bitten, while the other had minor injuries.
• Norton was identified within two days and arrested Feb. 5, according to Thornton police.
• The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office filed charges Wednesday in Adams County District Court including second-degree assault on a peace officer, two counts of third-degree assault on a first-responder, obstruction, false reporting of identifying information, and reckless driving.
