Overview
- Between Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, coordinated checks in Leganés, Torrejón de Ardoz, Fuenlabrada, Coslada, Puente de Vallecas and Ciudad Lineal led to roughly 1,200 identifications.
- At La Cubierta in Leganés, six inspections resulted in 32 arrests for alleged breaches of Spain’s immigration law and 828 people identified.
- Officers filed administrative actions for drug and weapon possession, venue overcapacity, access-control breaches, the presence of minors, labor violations and unauthorized street vending.
- The National Police describe the campaign as the Dispositivo de Seguridad de Prevención de la Violencia under new Madrid chief Javier Galván, who has boosted street staffing by 18% since October.
- Leganés mayor Miguel Ángel Recuenco lauded the joint work with National Police, as three recent La Cubierta operations now total 81 detainees and more than a thousand identified.
