Overview
- Six fire engines, around 40 firefighters and two specialist units with inflatable boats, pumps and flood kits responded to the flooding.
- About 50 people and three dogs were rescued by boat and a further 50 residents were evacuated, with no injuries reported by the London Fire Brigade.
- Thames Water said the damaged section was isolated by early evening and confirmed by 8:45pm that valve operations were complete with water returning to affected customers.
- Caledonian Road was closed in both directions and Transport for London diverted routes 17, 91, 259, 274 and N91 as a respite centre opened at Islington Tennis Centre.
- Homes and shops suffered significant flood damage, electricity was temporarily switched off for safety, support teams and loss adjusters were deployed, and local officials pressed Thames Water over communication and compensation.
