Watchdog Probes Death in Custody of Man Jailed for 2023 Harlesden Assault

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has opened an inquiry into the January 17 death of 25-year-old Gulwali Stanekzay at HMP Wandsworth.

  • During the incident he caused £3,445 worth of damage to a Toyota Prius and more than £4,000 to a neighbour’s front door and camera.
  • Officials have not confirmed a cause of death, and the ombudsman’s investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
