Washington State Hires Missouri OC Kirby Moore as Head Coach

The 35-year-old Prosser native brings a high-scoring Missouri track record to his first college head-coaching job.

Overview

  • Washington State said Moore agreed in principle to a five-year deal to become the program’s 36th head coach, with an introductory press conference set for Monday.
  • Moore replaces Jimmy Rogers, who departed after one season to lead Iowa State, continuing a stretch of frequent coaching changes for the Cougars since 2019.
  • Across three seasons at Missouri, Moore’s offenses averaged about 418 yards and 31.2 points per game, and the Tigers led the SEC in 2025 with 234.1 rushing yards per game.
  • His coaching path includes the College of Idaho, a graduate assistant stint at Washington, six years at Fresno State culminating as offensive coordinator, and three seasons coordinating Missouri’s offense.
  • Interim AD Jon Haarlow and president Elizabeth Cantwell praised Moore’s fit and vision as WSU finishes a 6-6 season and prepares for the Dec. 22 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl before entering a rebuilt Pac-12.
