Warren Man Gets 41.5 Years to Life for August Murder of Choice Washington

The repeat violent offender finding increased the punishment.

Overview

  • Judge Sarah Kovoor imposed the sentence after declaring David Hollie a repeat violent offender in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
  • A jury last week convicted Hollie of first-degree felony murder with firearm specifications and of having weapons under disability, tampering with evidence, failure to comply, and receiving stolen property.
  • Prosecutors said the case stemmed from the Aug. 3 shooting outside a convenience store on the 300 block of Scott Street NE in Warren, where Choice Washington, 34, was shot and died days later.
  • Before sentencing, Hollie told the court he would not have gone to trial had he seen a video that was presented as evidence during the proceedings.
  • Hollie’s attorney said he plans to file a notice of appeal.
