- At CinemaCon on Tuesday in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. confirmed Jamie Dornan will play Strider, also known as Aragorn, in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.
- Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf and Elijah Wood returns as Frodo, with Lee Pace reprising his Hobbit‑era role as the elven king Thranduil.
- New additions include Kate Winslet as Marigol, described as a Stoor matriarch, and Leo Woodall as Halvard, a Dúnedain ranger who joins Strider on the search.
