Warmer Air to Raise Temperatures as Rain Moves East from Ukraine's West

Falling pressure will let showers advance inland, keeping western Ukraine wetter than the rest of the country.

Overview

  • Official forecasts from the Ukrhydrometeorological Center say colder air will retreat and warmer air from Western Europe will gradually raise temperatures across Ukraine over the next several days.
  • A brief high-pressure field will keep much of the country mostly dry at first, with moderate rain limited to western and southwestern areas.
  • As pressure falls midweek, rain is expected to spread from the west to right-bank central regions and then to much of Ukraine while the east stays largely drier.
  • Night temperatures will be coolest in the Carpathians for the next three nights, with typical night values near +8 to +15°C and daytime highs generally 18–23°C and up to about +25°C in the south.
  • Winds will blow mainly from the southeast at about 5–10 m/s and by Friday temperatures should rise further even though western Ukraine is likely to remain the wettest region.
